YOSHIDAMACHI NAVI

Indulge in Japanese tea culture enjoyed as a part of everyday common practice

This program intends to share with the tour participants the intimate experience of drinking Japanese tea, not in a ritualistic manner like in a traditional tea ceremony, but rather in a relaxed style that the local people commonly enjoy in their everyday life, as well as the in-depth knowledge about the wide variations of tea leaves and tea utensils that have contributed to the establishment and enrichment of Japanese tea culture. Then, they will enjoy rice with green tea, “ochazuke” at Japanese restaurant. “Ochazuke” has been popular among Japanese people since the Edo-period (1603-1868) during a time that Japanese common culture started to bloom.
